Traverse Lake Road

Traverse Lake Road  is a scenic winding road that services a residential neighborhood of apx. 80 homes.  It is used primarily by local residents to access their homes and for activities that include walking, running, biking. The Association is committed to improving the safety of Traverse Lake Road, and encourages all vehicles to slow down and to provide a wide berth to non-vehicular users.

 

The LTLA Board passed a resolution in 2023 creating a workgroup to focus specifically on various aspects of Traverse Lake Road. A summary of its task was given at the 2024 Little Traverse Lake Association Annual Meeting (see TLR August 2024 presentation). The workgroup is exploring various options to improve the safety of TLR as a multi-use road, including speed limit reduction, increasing sight

One of the first initiatives taken on by the TLR workgroup was to reduce the speed limit on Traverse Lake Road from its current 40 mph (see Speed Limit Reduction Request documentation).  By working together, we can change driving behaviors by working together reduce speeds, accommodate non-vehicular users, and maintain clear sight distances. All users of Traverse Lake Road will be the beneficiaries of these efforts.
